Relative age measures the child’s age in days relative to the cutoff date for public kindergarten in the child’s state of residence. Calendar age measures the child’s age in days relative to April 1, 1999. Column five contains estimated coefficients on dummy variables representing the child’s quarter-of-birth, where the left out category is the group of children born in the second quarter of 1994. Numbers in bold are significant at the 5 percent level or lower.
