The sample is restricted to workers with zero to two years of experience who took the ASVAB tests before entering the labor market. Math, verbal, mechanical, and science skill are measured by ASVAB test scores. Interpersonal score is the average of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem score and the Rotter Locus of Control score, and is only available in the NLSY79; it is set to zero (the mean for the NLSY79) for all NLSY97 observations. See Appendix 2 for the O*Net task categories used to create these task measures. All skill and task measures are in standard deviations. The standard errors are clustered at the worker level.
