In Columns 1 and 2, the sample is restricted so that all children are born before August 1956, in Columns 3 and 4 before August 1951, and in Columns 5 and 6 before August 1946. Columns 1, 3, and 5 are based on a sample of nonadopted children, and Columns 2, 4, and 6 on adoptees. The share of biological parents with one parent that has died before a given age threshold is 0.128 in Column 1, 0.144 in Column 2, 0.213 in Column 3, 0.232 in Column 4, 0.340 in Column 5, and 0.326 in Column 6. The share of adopting parents with one parent that has died is 0.109 in Column 2, 0.185 in Column 4, and 0.309 in Column 6.
