Each column represents a separate regression, and all regressions include indicators for gender and birth cohort of both children and parents. Columns 1 and 3 are based on a sample of nonadopted children; Columns 2 and 4 are based on adoptees. The dependent variable in Columns 1 and 2 is a measure of hospitalizations, and the dependent variable in Columns 3 and 4 is a health index. Both measures are ranked within cohorts separately by mother, fathers, daughters, and sons.
